Will this program work for me?
These programs have been tried & tested successfully by hundreds of military athletes, many who are preparing for the toughest selection courses in the world such as BUD/s, SFAS, Ranger School / RASP, MARSOC, USAF Combat Control, Pararescue, SAS and more.
Which program should I start with?
Start with the 2-Mile Run Program if your focus is short-distance speed, fitness testing, or rebuilding your engine. If you already have a strong base or want to push into longer efforts, go with the 5-Mile Run Program first. You can run them back-to-back or cycle them through the year.
Why are these distances important?
The 2-mile run is a key test in the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) and other tactical fitness benchmarks. The 5-mile run is a performance standard for elite military units especially for those aiming to attend RASP and SFAS. Even for the general athlete, mastering both short- and mid-distance running builds a complete, combat-ready engine.
Can I incorporate this with my current training?
Yes. Each program includes just 4 sessions per week, and most workouts are under 60 minutes. They’re designed to plug in seamlessly with any HTK home or gym training plan.
Are these programs beginner friendly?
These are best suited to those with a basic running foundation. That said, all sessions are time- or effort-based, so beginners can scale down intensity while still progressing.
Do I need any special equipment?
No equipment is needed beyond a watch or timer and space to run. Optional extras like resistance bands or hills may be used in some sessions but can be substituted.
