5 TIPS TO MAKE 2019 YOUR BEST YEAR EVER.

As another year passes, now is the time to celebrate all of the great accomplishments you made in 2018. At the same time, it is also important to start planning for the future. There truly is no rest for the wicked and when it comes to most things in life, there is no such thing as maintaining.

Life is like a stream, and you’re either paddling like hell to move forward or your moving backward. It’s not fair and is downright frustrating at times but is something we all need to accept and put into action habits that will help us move in the right direction.

This article isn’t going to be filled with fluff or lame advice such as live, love, laugh and all your dreams will come true. I want to give you some straight to the point, hard-hitting, actionable advice that if you implement today you will instantly improve your life.

Right, time to get started.

#1. SET YOUR GOALS THEN 10X THEM

Look around at people who are achieving great things, what makes you any different. We all like to say Fxck mediocrity yet continue to live it.

This year it’s really time to smash your limits and previous beliefs of what is possible. If you set small goals, how much effort do you think you will put into achieving them? If you decide, "I want to do 50 pull-ups in a row" You will be forced to put in a great effort to achieve this. You may not hit the 50, but even if you go from 10 – 30 that is amazing progress you should be proud of.

So, go ahead and write down your goals for the next year.

#2 NARROW DOWN YOUR FOCUS

Now you have set out big goals for the new year, I want you to really narrow down your focus. Yes, have wild goals, but don’t just write them down and forget them. You want to lose 30lbs, that’s great. It’s not going to magically happen.

Write down the daily steps needed to hit this and have this somewhere that will be visible to you so you don’t forget. As an example, if your goal was to lose 30lbs you could break it down to,

1. Drink 3L of water.
2. Eat 1g of protein per lb. of bodyweight.
3. Do 30 mins minimum of exercise per day.

Now we have steps that we can tick off each day, follow these and before you know it your major goal will also be accomplished.

 #3. BUILD A BODY YOU ARE PROUD OF

When it comes to fitness, I don’t believe it should become your entire personality and have a love/hate relationship with the fitness industry. There are so many products that are pushed which only seem to further complicate your life and make you feel insecure.

I’m not here to say you need a 6 pack to be proud of your body, but I do believe everyone should be able to do a pull-up, be able to run when the time comes, and be fit enough to enjoy playing with their children.

However, if you are active Military or Law enforcement you don't get off so lightly. If that’s you, it's really time to step up to the plate and become an asset on your team. You are paid to be fit for the fight and should be professional about how you train and present yourself.

If you are currently not in the position to say, you are proud of your body then its time to take steps to achieve this.

#4. ENJOY SOLITUDE

Take time away from your phone. Don’t allow it to dictate your life. In this day and age, we are surrounded by distractions and things aiming to pull us in and hold us there.

The world wants you fat, weak and in a trance-like state as you’re easier to control.

If you are not using your phone to run a business, then there is no need to have it on you 24/7. One good tip is to buy a cheap 2nd phone that only allows calling/text. Give this number to your family and very close friends and use this phone one day per week to give yourself a break from social media.

Even if you are not going hiking or on an adventure, you should still practice solitude in your daily life. Spend time meditating, reading, running, playing chess etc. all while your phone is elsewhere and if possible, you are alone.

#5. FAIL OFTEN

Every now and then I hear people bragging that they didn’t have any failures in 2018. That’s great but if you didn’t achieve anything either then it’s time to rethink how you’re living.

I want you to fail as often as possible in 2019. Put yourself in uncomfortable positions, take the shots even if you don’t feel you deserve them, no-one is going to give you what you want in life, so it is up to you to get out there and really fight.

Learn to enjoy failure as it means you gave it a shot and will know better for the next time. I'm going to end this with my favorite quote that goes along with this point.
